Honey, I'm Getting Remarried
I don’t believe in love at first sight. Never have. But, as he sat before me sharing his values and philosophies, I felt myself falling - fast. I had been on so many dates. Met so many people. Coffee oozing from my veins. Conversation after conversation. A proposal or two. Putting myself out there, time and time again. Met some wonderful people, but rarely finding a genuine connection. Until now.
After months of actively looking, I finally fell in love…with a company. Effective today, Honey is the name of my new employer where I’ve begun my tenure as Chief Revenue Officer. With offices in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, Honey was founded in 2012 by co-founders, George Ruan and Ryan Hudson, and has quickly grown from both a revenue and employee perspective.
Honey is addressing the tedious process employed by most consumers as they search for the best deal on their desired items. We all do it. Abandon the online shopping cart in hopes of finding a better price. Spending minutes, hours attempting to do so and often times, giving up. Or, much to the dismay of the retailer, leaving them for someone else. How dare we!?
With Honey’s Chrome extension, we automatically find and test the best coupon codes based on your pending purchase. Once the extension is downloaded at joinhoney.com, no need to leave the shopping cart. No need to open another browser window - and another, and another - as you attempt to find and compare. Just click on “Try Codes.” We will search - in SECONDS - and apply the best discount to your cart items. Save time, money, get Honey.
George and I also share a passion for personalized promotions: right offer at the right time to the right individual. It was an initiative that I began while at CJ, but was challenged by the lack of assets critical for success: data and inventory. Honey has both, she says with glee!
Okay, I’ll stop with the product pitch. For now. ;)
People and opportunity. The most important factors in my search for love in the business world. George and Ryan obviously possess a keen intellect, but most importantly, they also demonstrate integrity, transparency and kindness. The latter, a rarity in today’s tech industry. As Steve Jobs once said, "A players hire A players" and the Honey team reflects just that.
Throughout my search, I often feared that I would never find love again. Be patient. Be yourself. Be free.
